The 'Ram in a Thicket'

Ram in a Thicket - One of an almost identical pair discovered in one of the graves in the Royal Cemetery at Ur Southern Iraq, dating from about 2600 - 2400 BC. It was named by the excavator "Ram in a Thicket" which was a Biblical allusion to Genesis 22:13 concerning a sacrificial ram. But the ram is more likely to be a goat. The figure most likely originally supported an object such as a bowl.
