March 2003
Due to the increasing number of attractions grouped together under "London and the South", I have now split these into two separate areas namely "London" and the "South of England". This should also assist visitors to locate their particular area of interest, especially visitors to London.

April 2003
A short slideshow has been added to each main area index page to show a selection of small photo's. This adds a little movement to the page without increasing the download time..
New page added for Wakehurst Place in Sussex, managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.
New page added for Eltham Palace, in South East London which is rather special.

May 2003
New pages added for the Cotswold Farm Park and Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds.
New page added for The Tower Bridge Experience in the famous bridge itself.
A new facility has been added for visitors to send free E-cards to friends, complete with a photograph selected from those displayed on this site. This is in addition to the Wallpaper and Screensaver that were added earlier. Both facilities are accessible from the Home Page links.
Additional Photographs have been added to Hever Castle following a further visit in May.
A page on Borde Hill in West Sussex has been added.
A page on Brighton in Sussex has been added.
Also the site navigation links have been restyled.

June 2003
Following a further visit additional views of Eltham Palace have been added to the page. Especially as there is so much to see inside and out, at this unique attraction.

October 2003
I have now found the time to add most of my new pages, these cover mainly gardens visited during the summer months, as follows:-
New pages on Claremont Landscape Garden in Surrey, Ightham Mote In Kent, High Beeches Gardens in Sussex, Knole Park at Sevenoaks in Kent, Pashley Manor Gardens in east Sussex, Groombridge Place Gardens near Tunbridge Wells in Kent, Covent Garden Market in London and also my latest addition Windsor Castle in Windsor Great Park West London. I have also updated the site Home page with a new Logo and navigation buttons. There are still a few additional pages and updates which I hope to incorporate shortly, it has been a busy summer !.

November 2003
The following completes my additions to the South of England gardens for 2003:
Nymans Garden in west Sussex, Sisinghurst Castle Garden near Cranbrook in Kent, an Update to Wisley Gardens, plus the addition of Autumn colours to both Sheffield Park and Leonardslee gardens

January 2004
I have just completed adding my new pages covering a holiday in the Peak district in September 2003, as follows:
Peak in brief shows a quick tour of some peak villages and views, Dovedale a popular beauty spot, Castleton and the Caverns, also updates to Crich Tram Museum, Chatsworth House more views of the opulent interior, additions to Bakewell, also more views of Haddon Hall

April 2004
I have updated my collection of Wallpaper images and created a new screensaver slideshow for 2004. These can be viewed at "free Wallpapers & Screensaver".
My page covering Upper & Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds, has been updated with some new and improved photographs. Views of the Model Village at Bourton-on-the-Water and others, have been added to the Bourton page. A new page on the important market town of Stow-on-the-Wold.
Additional pictures added to the Eltham Palace page.

June 2004
To complete my new additions to the Cotswolds, I have added a page on Ragley Hall and also a page on the Jephson Gardens in Leamington Spa.

Many gardens featured in my South of England section including some listed above have now been transferred to my new site called Gardens-to-Go, please click here for further details

July 2004
Two new pages have been added to the South of England section of this site. These are Arundel Castle near Chichester in West Sussex and Down House Charles Darwin's home in Kent.
Also a return visit to add additional photographs to the page on Chartwell, Churchills home in Kent.

November 2004
A new page has been added on Crystal Palace Park, which is local to me and is undergoing restoration. Also an addition to the Sheffield Park page Autumn Colours in 2004.
Finally several new pages featuring London attractions : December 2004
Some new wallpapers and a new screen saver have been selected for 2005. These have been chosen from images captured during the current year.

January 2005
Originating from a suggestion made by one of the visitors to my site, I have now added a link from most pages to the official website of the attraction. This is to provide information on current opening times and admission charges.
I have also been searching my photo archives for new material which has been added to several pages.

April 2005
New images taken this month have been added to the Hever Castle and Eltham Palace pages.
Also a new page to record a recent visit to The historic Dockyard at Chatham in Kent
I have revisited the splendid Leeds Castle in Kent and completely updated the text plus many new photo's.

May 2005
Following a three day Break in Canterbury Kent, I have added an extended feature on Canterbury City and the famous Cathedral.
Revisited Scotney Castle Garden for a new set of photographs at its springtime best.
A new page added for Saint Hill Manor last owned by L. Ron Hubbard founder of the Scientology religion. A new London page added for the Royal Park of Kensington Gardens.

June 2005
A further visit to one of my favorites Eltham Palace to photograph the summer flower borders.

A new addition to my London Pages following a visit to Shakespear's Globe Theatre by the river Thames. A new visit to Ightham Mote to view the recently completed restoration, with some new photo's.

November 2005 - January 2006

Following my holiday in Stratford-upon-Avon in early September. I am pleased to add several new pages to my Cotswold section as follows:-
March 2006

I have added a new viewing gallery featuring my Favourite Places-to-Go Landscapes. The images are also contained elsewhere on this site but are brought together in this Gallery for easy viewing.
After a long winter an early visit to Eltham Palace to try out my new Panasonic 8MP camera. View the updated images of the palace interior and South Moat Bridge etc.

April 2006
A further visit to Hever Castle to view the latest displays of spring flowers, a new page has been added.
Areturn to Kew Gardens in spring 2006 complete with new camera, to capture some quality photo's.

May 2006
Following a return visit to the Tower of London I have renewed most of the images and updated the text.

June 2006
A return visit to Ightham Mote to collect some new images including the early summer colour.
A return summer visit to Eltham Palace to photograph the herbaceeous borders.
A brief return visit to Churchills Chartwell to check on the 2006 gardens.

August 2006
A new addition to the South East section is Bodiam Castle a popular romantic castle in East Sussex.

September 2006

A return to my childhood favorite The Natural History Museum, the dinosaurs were still in residence.
An unusual and interesting visit to the Sherlock Holmes Museum located in his Baker street apartment.
A brief visit to colourful Chinatown in London's Soho district.
A new page introducing the British Museum with a small sample from the thousands of objects on display.

October 2006
Some new additions to my Favourite Landscapes Gallery from visits in summer 2006.
My regular annual visit to view the autumn colours at Sheffield Park Garden in East Sussex.

New Additions for April & May 2007
Now that spring has returned, I am able to revisit my favourite locations starting with some new photographs of Eltham Palace in London SE9.
Also another return visit to restored Ightham Mote in Kent and some vibrant spring colour at nearby Hever Castle.
A return visit to the legendary spring colour of Leonardslee Gardens and a major update to the web page. Some news and images from Wisley Gardens.
A visit in May to view the late spring vista from the Bastion at Scotney Castle Garden.
Following a repeat visit to Canterbury, I have added a section on the underground Roman Museum.

June and July 2007
A return visit to HMS Belfast moored on the Thames near London Bridge, to take more photographs. A visit to St. James's Park in London to photograph the summer bedding displays.

August and September 2007
As the summer of 2007 has been a washout, we visited more places in London where we could keep our feet dry. I hope you find them interesting.
A tour around Canary Wharf with a visit to the Motorexpo car show. A tour around the Swedish Gotheborg ship reconstruction while on a visit to Docklands. A visit to the newly opened Household Cavalry Museum located in Horseguards. A tour round the unusual Chelsea Physic Garden, with its collections of medicinal plants. The London aquarium in the basement of old County Hall by the Thames. A return visit to the iconic London Eye with its fabulous views over london.

An interesting new addition to the South of England section is the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum with its collection of historic buildings, farm equipment and rare breeds.

November 2007
Some new photographs taken during my annual autumn visit to Sheffield Park Garden.

December 2007
A late visit to London to see the refurbished London Transport Museum at Covent Garden and onwards to view the also recently refurbished St. Pancras International Railway station.

June 2008
A visit to Canary Wharf to oggle the luxury cars on display at "Motorexpo 2008"and a return to Hever Castle in Kent to view the Rose Garden at its best.

Cotswold Holiday September 2008
We visited several new attractions as well as some old favourites during a short holiday based at Stratford-upon-Avon. The Cotswold Motoring Museum is an attraction that we had missed on previous visits so we have now corrected this omission. No visit to the Cotswolds would be complete without calling in again to view the Slaughter Villages.

A visit to a new historic Cotswold Garden Bourton House in the village of Bourton on the Hill. Next our attention transferred to birds with an entertaining visit to The Cotswold Falconry Centre. Another new garden to visit was Kiftsgate Court at Chipping Campden. A tour of Holy Trinity Church Stratford containing Shakespear's grave. Finally a return visit to National Trust Hidcote Manor Garden.

November 2008
The gallery showing my Favourite Landscapes has been updated to include many new photo's taken during 2008, I hope that you enjoy them.

June 2009
A summer visit to London to view the extraordinary Kensington Roof Gardens above what was Derry and Toms department store.

September 2009
We enjoyed two holidays in the Cotswolds in 2009 and managed to find yet more places to visit as follows:-
Kenilworth Castle, Sezincote House and Gardens, Snowshill Manor, Baddesley Clinton, Packwood House and Hailes Abbey. I hope my pictures and descriptions encourage you to visit as well.

October 2010
We had two short breaks in the Cotswolds in 2010 one centered in Cheltenham and the other in our usual Stratford-upon-Avon.
New attractions visited included Chastleton House, Prinknash Park and The Holst Museum in Celtenham. We also returned to Warwick Castle.


July 2011
During a Cotswold holiday in late March, we revisited the Cotswold Farm Park to see the lambing, also Charlecote park and the new RSC Theatre at Stratford. Plus a first time visit to the picturesque village of Welford-on-Avon.

Later in July we had a weeks break in the Peak district at bakewell and visited several new attractions. Bolsover Castle, Bidulph Grange Gardens, Quarry Bank Mill and Hardewick Hall.
You will notice that I have included a quick selection feature on these new pages following a comment on over-use of the "Back Button". Unfortunately it will not be possible to include this feature retrospectively as the volume of phtographs is now far to great. But perhaps on all new additions.


September 2011
In september we made a return visit to Canterbury and made an excursion to Dover Castle as well as the city attractions of Westgate Gardens and historical Eastbridge Hospital

February 2012
I have at last found time to update the desktop Wallpapers collection not touched since 2008. Also to keep up with the times a Windows 7 Theme for Places-to-Go has been added.

July 2012
I have created a new section covering Holidays in other areas of the UK, starting with Norfolk. This includes Kings Lynn, Gooderstone Gardens, Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, Oxburgh Hall and Royal Sandringham. Also Somerset which includes visits to Glastonbury, Wells, Barrington Court, Lytes Cary Manor and Tintinhull Garden.


September 2013
I have added a new section in Holidays covering my first break in Salisbury Wiltshire and visits to local historical sites, including Stonehenge and the celebrated Salisbury Cathedral., also I have updated my Favorite Landscapes Gallery.

February 2015
I have added updates to cover holidays to the Cotswolds and Salisbury in 2014, including visits to Lacock Village and Wilton House in Wiltshire.
